Self-paced online course on SARS-CoV-2 sequencing and bioinformatics where learners have options to choose the technologies of their interest.
Duration: 3-5 hours.
Audience: Will include public health experts that are or will be involved in the production, handling, or analysis of SARS-CoV-2 whole genome sequence data, as well as any other interested individuals with a relevant molecular biology background.
At the end of this training learners will be able to:
- Identify the main elements of a next generation sequencing workflow from specimen to sequence.
- Understand the basic principles of Illumina sequencing.
- Understand the basic principles of IonTorrent sequencing.
- Understand the basic principles of Nanopore sequencing.
- Recognise the strengths and limitations of the three sequencing technologies.
- Recall important elements of sequencing quality control.
- Describe the elements of bioinformatic data analysis.
- Interpret results from several available software for data analysis.
Participation: Will soon be available for public self-enrolment after pilot phase.
