- Identify the main challenges in antibiotic prescribing and the burden of antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and explain the principles and benefits of antimicrobial stewardship (AMS).
- Describe core indicators and essential components of hospital AMS programmes, including key prescribing approaches and performance measures.
- Distinguish between guidelines, formularies, and policies governing antimicrobial use.
- Recognise effective strategies for implementing and evaluating antimicrobial stewardship interventions.
- Understand key surveillance metrics in AMS, including volume-based and quality-based approaches.
- Interpret and apply data from point prevalence and longitudinal surveillance to inform public health decisions.
